The little tiny buffalo lived in the tall grass with all the other buffalo. He looked just like the other buffalo except that he was much smaller. That was because he was only a child.
Something that the little tiny buffalo really loved doing was watching rainbows in the sky above the grassy fields. One day he heard that there was always a rainbow in the forest that was off in the distance. That’s why they called it the Rainbow Forest. He wanted to see the rainbow so he decided to do what most of the other buffalo would never do. He walked all the way to the Rainbow Forest.
Page 2 • Walking into the Forest and Looking Around
When he arrived, the little tiny buffalo walked up a path that led into the forest. He was hoping to see the rainbow as soon as he got under the trees but it was not there. All he saw were rocks and trees. As he walked along the path that went deeper into the forest he saw tall, tall, and taller trees. He saw little rocks on the path and big rocks that grew into mountains. He saw streams that ran down into a lake in the valley below. But he did not see the rainbow in the Rainbow Forest.
Page 3 • The Little Tiny Buffalo Meets the Three Squirrels
As he walked along a little further he saw three squirrels playing in the trees.
“What are you doing in the forest?” The three squirrels asked the little tiny buffalo.
“I’m looking for the rainbow.” He Answered. “Can you help me find it?”
“Yes. We know where the rainbow is.” Answered the three squirrels. “Follow us.”
Then the three squirrels hopped and hopped and jumped and jumped. Hopping and jumping from tree branch to tree branch, they climbed all the way to the top of the trees.

When they reached the top they all pointed and shouted out. “There it is!”
The little tiny buffalo looked up at the squirrels and he was sad.
“Why are you sad?” The three squirrels asked him.
“Because I can’t climb in the trees.” Answered the little tiny buffalo. “So I can’t see the rainbow.”
“We’re sorry said the squirrels. We didn’t know you couldn’t climb the trees. We will help you find the rainbow some other way.”
So they hopped and they jumped and they skipped from tree branch to tree branch searching for a place where the little tiny buffalo would be able to see the rainbow.
Page 5 • The Little Tiny Buffalo Meets the Yellow Bird
As they all moved through the forest a yellow bird flew down from the sky.
“What are you doing in the Rainbow Forest?” The yellow bird asked the little tiny buffalo.
“I’m looking for the rainbow.” He answered. “Can you help me find it?”
“Yes. I know where the rainbow is.” Said the yellow bird. Then he flapped his wings and flew straight up into the air.
Up, up, up, higher and higher he flew, until he was above the rocks and the trees. The yellow bird pointed his wing out into the sky and said. “There it is! There’s the rainbow.”

The little tiny buffalo looked up at the bird in the sky and he was sad.
“Why are you sad?” The little bird shouted down from up in the sky.
“Because I can’t fly.” He answered. “So I can’t see the rainbow.”
“I’m sorry.” Said the yellow bird. “I didn’t know you couldn’t fly. I will help you find another way to see the rainbow.”
So the yellow bird flew ahead. The three squirrels hopped and jumped from tree branch to tree branch and the little tiny buffalo walked on down the path looking for the rainbow.
Page 7 • The Little Tiny Buffalo Meets the Goat on the Rocks
As they walked along the path a very large goat appeared on a cliff of rocks above them.
“What are you doing in the Rainbow Forest?” The goat asked the little tiny buffalo.
“I’m looking for the rainbow.” Answered the little tiny buffalo. “Can you help me find it?”
“Yes I know where the rainbow is.” Answered the big giant goat. The goat kicked his hooves and jumped up into the air. He jumped from rock to rock all the way to the top of the mountain.
“There it is!” The big giant goat shouted down. “I can see the rainbow.”

The little tiny buffalo looked up at the goat on the top of the mountain and he was sad.
“Why are you sad?” The big giant goat asked.
“Because I can’t climb the rocks.” Answered the little tiny buffalo. “So I can’t see the rainbow.”
“I’m sorry.” Said the big giant goat. “I didn’t know you couldn’t climb up the rocks. I will help you find another way to see the rainbow.”
So the big giant goat joined the little tiny buffalo, the yellow bird and the three squirrels searching to find the rainbow. They kept walking through the forest until they got to a lake.
Page 9 • The Little Tiny Buffalo Meets the Fish in the Lake
The little tiny buffalo saw a silver fish in the lake. When the fish jumped out of the water to catch a fly he saw the little tiny buffalo. “What are you doing in the Rainbow Forest?” The fish asked.
“I’m looking for the rainbow.” He answered. “Can you help me find it?”
“Yes I can.” Answered the fish. “Follow me.”
“Glimmering in the light as he bobbed up and down, the silver fish swam across the lake. When he got to the other side of the lake he jumped up out of the water and shouted out. “Look over there. There it is. The Rainbow!”

The little tiny buffalo looked at the silver fish in the water on the other side of the lake and he was sad.
“Why are you sad?” The silver fish asked the little tiny buffalo.
“Because I can’t swim.” He answered.
“I’m sorry.” Said the silver fish. I didn’t know you couldn’t swim. I will swim up the stream and see if I can help you find another way to see the rainbow.
The silver fish swam up the stream while the little tiny buffalo and all his new friends walked down the path looking for the rainbow in the Rainbow Forest.
Page 11 • The Little Tiny Buffalo Meets a Rabbit on the Path
As they continued to walk up the path along side the stream a bunny rabbit jumped out onto the path in front of them. The rabbit was surprised to see them all.
“Hello.” Said the little tiny buffalo.
“Hello.” Answered the bunny. “What are you doing in the Rainbow Forest?”
“I’m looking for the rainbow.” Answered the little tiny buffalo. “Can you help me find it?”
“Yes I can.” She answered. “Follow me.”
The little tiny buffalo and all his new friends followed the bunny. The rabbit hopped ahead of them along the bunny trail until she came to an opening in the trees.
Page 12 • The Little Tiny Buffalo Sees the Rainbow
The little tiny buffalo followed the bunny through an opening in the trees and there it was. The rainbow stretched out above an enormous waterfall. Colors rose up and filled the misty sky while water poured down into a lake below.
“That is so beautiful!” Said the little tiny buffalo as he stared up at the rainbow. Filled with joy he looked around at all his new friends and told them how much he appreciated their help.
Page 13 • The Little Tiny Buffalo Sees the Rainbow
“Thank you three squirrels because I know you can climb to the top of the trees and see the rainbow. Thank you yellow bird because I know you can fly high into the sky and see the rainbow. Thank you big giant goat because I know you can climb to the top of the mountain and see the rainbow. Thank you silver fish because I know you can swim up the stream and see the rainbow. Thank you bunny rabbit because you showed me the bunny trail.”
“I know that you all have your own way to see the rainbow and you still wanted to help me find my way to see the rainbow. Thank you all for helping me. Now it is time for me to get back with my family out on the grassy fields.” So they all walked together to the edge of the forest.
“I will come back and see you all soon.” The little tiny buffalo told all his new friends. “We will walk through the forest together again and see the rainbow another day.”
